18 Shaolin Techniques

The "Shaolin 18 Techniques for Health and Vitality" is a collection of chi kung-techniques which have been composed into a flowing set by Grandmaster Wong . Taught in our school, this set includes the basics of form, energy and mind practice in chi kung, and also provides insight into the principles of body use and combat application found in Shaolin Kungfu. The set can be used for many purposes, aims and objectives, but attaining good health and vitality is shared by all approaches.
Shaolin 18 Techniques for Health and Vitality can be practiced at the following levels:
  1. Gentle physical exercise
  2. Chi kung at form level
  3. Chi kung at energy level
  4. Chi kung at mind level
  5. Martial art

For a fresh beginner this course offers a good alternative for our more internal *Shaolin Chi Kung Beginners course (linkki)*. Those familiar with or advanced in the basics of our schools chi kung and kungfu may benefit greatly from this set by applying their higher skill level, and performing it on energy, mind or martial art levels.

Applying for the course

Every new 18 techniques course will be announced on the starting page of our site, although please note that they are organized relatively rarely compared to our beginners courses. The more interest there is for this course, the more likely a new one will be organized.

Personal Practice

Individual practice outside the classes is an integral part of the course content. Because there is only one formal class per week with Sifu Markus, it is essential that the students practice what they are taught on a daily basis.

Uniform

There is no set uniform within the chi kung classes, instead students should wear loose, comfortable clothing. It is not advisable to train in bare feet, so indoor shoes or trainers will be required. Anyone with jewellery or piercings is advised to either remove them or to cover them with tape to help prevent accidents.

Class Etiquette

Each class will start promptly at the stated time and the students should be ready to begin the classes then. If a student is persistently late without good reason, or if they stand around talking instead of getting changed, then they may be asked to leave the class. Please read:
